SayPaper: Redesign and B2B wholesale portal

We redesigned the Shopify store of SayPaper, an Italian stationery and gift shop, and built a B2B portal so the shops that resell its brands order wholesale from the same store.

The brief

SayPaper sells planners, notebooks, pens and paper goods selected from European and Japanese brands such as Hobonichi, Midori and Traveler's, alongside prints, puzzles, wall decor, workshops and video courses. It also distributes its brands to other shops. A store like this outgrows its theme fast: a deep catalog, product pages that are hard to scan, too many banners, and Italian customers who need gift wrap and an electronic invoice. The brief for a project like this: a cleaner storefront for consumers, and a wholesale channel for resellers on the same Shopify store, without a second site.

What we did

  • Storefront redesign

A new theme with a rebuilt home, menu and collection structure across three main categories and their sub-levels, product pages split into description and specification tabs, cross-sell, and shipping, payment and review info where shoppers decide. The B2C store went live in September 2025.

  • B2B wholesale portal

A reseller area on the Samita wholesale app, live in October 2025: a registration page that collects Italian company and invoicing data (VAT ID, tax code, certified email and SDI code), account approval, and a B2B catalog visible only to customers with a reseller tag. New reseller tiers are added by tag from the theme settings, with no code.

  • B2B payments and minimum order

Bank transfer offered only to resellers and some consumer payment methods hidden from them with HidePay, a minimum order for B2B enforced in the theme code, and no review request emails sent to business customers.

  • Paid gift wrap and e-invoice in the cart

A paid gift wrap line with a gift message box, and an electronic invoice request form for companies, both right in the cart.

  • Digital products on autopilot

A Shopify Flow rule fulfills courses and workshops automatically, with no shipping email, while mixed orders still ship as usual. The free-shipping bar hides for digital product types.

  • Promo badges and new languages

Product labels the team switches on with a product tag for weekly promotions, and English and French versions of the store with a redirect by browser language.

The result

SayPaper sells to consumers and resellers from one Shopify store, with the wholesale rules, gift wrap and invoicing its customers need built into the storefront.
